As that special time gets closer, which these days I feel I don't have enough time in the day for everything anymore. It's also another time to reflect on what the year has brought and be thankful that I was able to be healthy enough to enjoy the joys and be there to take of the tears and laugh at the jokes. I'm very thankful for my family, friends and very glad I'm part of a great team the JETs, I'm looking forward to another year of memories to remember. When we talk about time going by so fast yes it sure has, I can't believe I just celebrated my 25th year anniversary on the 6th of October. I told my husband that no matter what circumstances we should celebrate to the fullest, so we finally went away for a few days which was long coming since the last time we had any vacation was back in 2001. Have to say we had a great time and didn't want to come home. Atleast we can say we have memories of a great time and hopefully we can celebrate another milestone.

It makes me happy to hear that when someone buys something from me that they are very pleased and happy because I know that when I make a piece I make sure I put the time and energy in each piece to make sure it's something that I would wear or even something I would give out as gifts to my family. When Victoria had purchased my earrings I knew she was a person who liked the Victorian Era. Not only was I happy that she thought of me but it made me extra happy and honored is that she was featured in a short film about a story about a Victorian pickpocket who follows a string, and collects treasures along the way and she wore my earrings. ♥ Busy With Building Backyard Steps ♥

My hubby is great, he isn't afraid to tackle anything except electric he will not do, bad experience when he was younger. I guess working in construction most of his life has something to do with him being so handy. We had a deck which we resurfaced about 10 years but with the sun that beats on it all day the material didn't hold up well and buckled, it was a trek composite material. It was good for about 6 years of the ten thou. Last spring he resurfaced our front step which came great so we decided we are going to knock down the deck and make steps to match the front. This is the work in progress can't wait til it's all done, hopefully our weather will start being nice, can't do concrete in the rain. As you could see we are making the steps alot smaller than our deck was, now I can make my garden next to house and fence it off instead of in the back of yard, and hope the animals don't eat before we do. As you can see the dog already marked his spot on new steps.

Helping Someone Out

I'm sure we all aware that Australia was devastated with fires unfortunately set by someone. There were so many lifes lost and homes destroyed by the fires and let's not forget all the animals that were affected by this also, is so upsetting and sad.

Etsy has a shop run by www.feliciafairy.etsy.com and www.vanillapixie.etsy.com on which all the proceeds to the Red Cross to help the ones of need.

So far they have raised $12,000 in AU, which is great so far.

Another year gone by so fast, I have to say that I have been thru several things this past year but I wouldn't let it get me down for the most part. My mom always told me that giving up was easy that sticking with it is the hardest part so with those words stuck in my head I tried my hardest to keep it together especially for my family and friends. Which I have to say are very understanding and supportive and I'm trully blessed to have them in my life.

When I'm making something, it is usually something that I know I would wear and most likely make it for myself also if I have extra materials. I do ask my daughter's and their friends what they think and if it's something they don't answer to right away I start all over again and make something else. I put alot of thought and time in each piece I make because I want to make sure when someone buys it they are very happy.

Creation of a Pair of Lovely Earrings

I was fascinated about the fact that clay can used in so many ways. After doing some research and asking a few questions, I went out and bought some to experiment on. I used white scupley III white, my mom has tin of old buttons and I used one to make a mold. With the mold I created these earrings. I painted them with a metallic silver acrylic paint, gave them an antique look and sealed them with glaze. Final result a pair of lovely earrings.

The great part is that I have the mold to make more.

When I go out with hubby antiquing on the weekends, I now will be looking for unique buttons to create more.

I can't tell you when was the last time I bought a pair of earrings from the store. I didn't realize how many I had until I bought this lovely stand. When I say I wear what I make that's is a true statement.

I've been doing alot of reading, research and watching a few videos on how to make your own earwire and headpins it seemed to me that this is something I would like to try to do. Well I tried it out yesterday and I'm pleased on how they came out and thought I would share it with you. Now I can't wait to order more wire and do all types of designs, yay.

Natural Brass

With the craze to have everything look aged, what about if you're like me and like the way natural brass looks, here are some tips on how to keep your brass looking brillant. I realize that brass darken quickly just being out and open to the air but these steps can help you achieve the brillance back. First go and purchase Bar Keepers Friend, it could be found in any food shopping center or Walmart in their cleaning section. Keep scrolling down.

You can wear gloves if you prefer, I then sprinkle alittle in my sink, using a soft toothbrush I dip the toothbrush into BKF and gently brush the item, as you can see my item was darken pretty much.

I rinse with alittle soap and water and you will see the brillance right away, if you didn't get the look you want you might have to repeat until you do, doesn't take long thou. As you can see my piece came out very brillant and the details show up very nicely.

End result the creation of these lovely earrings.

It also says it good for copper, that I haven't tried yet, thanks for looking, Michele

I haven't been doing any creating lately, my time has been filled with getting everything ready for my youngest daughter's prom and up coming graduation from high school. It was alot of work to do and I'm glad for the most part it's almost over, but sad also because she is my youngest and now I don't have any little ones in the house. They grow up so fast and you must capture every moment for a memory because once it's gone it's gone forever. Wish my mom was here to share all the excitement she used to love to do all the girly things with them and they shared alot of those together as they were growing up. Glad we have alot of memories to remember.

A Nice Way To Start The Day

As you all you know JET had their Treasure Hunt and I would say it worked out pretty good. I had alot of fun looking at everyone's shop and bumping the thread to keep it active and getting to know each of you more. There were five prizes awarded and I donated this bracelet http://www.flickr.com/photos/21386090@N06/2215422804/, which is one that I made for my new collection.

This morning when I went to see if anything was going on in my shop I had a convo waiting for me. Hi, Michele! I wanted to thank you for the "tea party" charm bracelet that you sent to me as a winner of the JET Hunt. It is very pretty and well made and I will wear it with pride! Thank you, again, Taylor. Upset to Say the Least

This year so far, I'm trying to stay as positive as possible here and trying to get back to myself after dealing with losing my mom last year. Well it's not working out so well. Had to go to the doctor wasn't feeling so good again. I have been trying to deal with high blood pressure since 2005 and have to say I'm not having a good time with it at all. I am allergic to alot of medicines out there and the doctors are basically giving up because they are only good for handing out prescriptions. I have tried herbal but it does good in the beginning then after awhile I guess my body gets used to it and it doesn't keep working. Well the new medicine I was on was doing so good brought my blood pressure down to 114/74 which is great knowing that it could be 165/100 which is basically very bad. Been on the medicine for almost three weeks now and I have a problem with my knee swelling for no reason at all, my feet and hands are like ice and I'm always cold and I could have on many layers and still feel cold urghhh. I look for side effects to this medicine and people are complaining that they have swelling of the joints and basically muscle cramps, oh boy just what I am experiencing and not very happy at this point.

I dedicated this year to be the year I got back to myself and I'm trying my best not to get depressed, thank god for I have an outlet in either creating jewelry or crotcheting because I would go insane just sitting here right now and keeping my leg elevaulated to bring the swelling down but I can't go on like this forever.

Today I went out to lunch with my hubby, and I went to the ladies room and in there was a woman and girl about 10 years old, well without me knowing my bracelet slipped off, and it was one of my favorite ones also. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7451014 When I was just about the leave the little girl unfortunately pants still down underwear up thou, she gets my attention to tell me she found my bracelet and handed to me. I thought was so sweet and nice of her that I had to do something. I ran to my purse got out a business card and ran back into the bathroom and thank god they were still in there and told the lady that her daughter is very sweet and I was very thankful. Handed them the card and told her to pick something out and it would no cost to her. So I'm waiting to see if they do. The girl could have easily kept the bracelet for herself but didn't, you don't find many people like that out there anymore, wish I had something on hand to give her.
